PCC Opens New “Ukulele Experience”

 
The Polynesian Cultural Center is launching Oahu’s newest exhibit featuring Hawaii’s official state instrument, the ukulele. A grand opening of the new exhibit, Ukulele Experience, will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 5:00-8:30 PM at the Hukilau Marketplace in Laie, Hawaii. 

All are invited to the free event that will feature the following: 

  • 5:00-5:30 PM: Grand Opening Ceremony (Prayer, blessing and untying of maile lei)
  • 5:30-6:30 PM: Tour the exhibit
  • 6:30-8:30 PM: Free Community Concert (Featuring local recording artists Honoka & Azita, Corey Fujimoto, and Kalai Gamiao)

The Ukulele Experience exhibit shares about the storied history of the ukulele, its immense worldwide popularity, and the impact it has made in American cinema. It also honors some of Hawaii’s premier ukulele artists, past and present.
