Elder David A. Bednar to Address Graduates

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will address more than 270 BYU–Hawaii graduates who will be participating in commencement on Saturday, December 15, 2012. The exercises will begin at 9:30 AM in the Cannon Activities Center. 

The student speaker at Commencement will be Mark Levi, from Kingston, Washington, who will be graduating with a degree in biological sciences. Levi is in the top 10 percent of his class. 

Elder David A. Bednar was called as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 7, 2004. Elder Bednar served in the Southern Germany mission and attended Brigham Young University for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He later received his doctoral degree in organizational behavior from Purdue University. Following the completion of his education, Elder Bednar worked as a professor at Texas Tech University and University of Arkansas teaching business management. Before he was called as an Apostle, Elder Bednar served as the President of Brigham Young University–Idaho from 1997-2004.
