Housing Director Joins the BYU–Hawaii Ohana

BYU–Hawaii welcomes Edwin Rogers as the new Director of University Housing and Residential Life.

Rogers comes to the university with extensive expertise in the fields of student services, finance, public relations, construction, and higher education leadership. He graduated from Dixie College, where he served as student body president, and later earned a degree in communications and public relations from BYU (Provo). Throughout his professional career, Rogers has been involved in complex and customer-focused operations, most recently as the Director of Student Services at Dixie Applied Technology College where he also had stewardship over financial aid. His understanding of student needs and a proven ability to appropriately and effectively meet those needs has prepared him to manage the housing and residential life areas at BYU–Hawaii.

“I am thoroughly excited to be a part of BYU–Hawaii’s outstanding administration, faculty and staff,” says Rogers. He lived in Samoa when he was younger while his father worked for the Church Educational System, and he is excited about returning the Pacific. “This job has given me the opportunity to return to Polynesia and continue a family legacy in the Church Educational System,” he says. “I look forward to getting to know and learning more about the campus and the special environment that exists because of the exceptional students who come here.”

Prior to coming to Hawaii, Rogers served as the public address announcer for Dixie State University Athletics and was active in his community, including service as chairman of the board for the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce and president of the Red Rock Rotary Club.

Ed’s responsibilities at BYU–Hawaii include on-campus housing, off-campus housing, residential life, married-student housing (TVA), and faculty housing. He and his wife Cheryl have a blended family of eight children and six grandchildren.
