New Student Leadership Takes Office for 2015-2016

Brigham Young University–Hawaii's Service Association (BYUHSA) has welcomed new leaders to their team for 2015.

New presidency of BYUHSA is Dallin Leota as President, Sala McCarthy-Stonex as Vice President over the Student Advisory Council, Blake Va'aulu as Vice President over BYU–Hawaii Student Associations, and Andrew Collette as Executive Secretary.

Leota had set his new team on the goal “to fulfill President David. O. McKay's prophecy to send out genuine gold from this university, to empower students with the necessary skills to go and build the kingdom of God in their respective countries.”

When asked about what they hope to achieve in their new positions, Collette expressed, “Students should know the potential that our Heavenly Father sees in every one of them. I hope to help all students not only know their true potential but also to help them achieve it – to see people as who they can become, not just as they are now.”

In support of the prophetic mission and vision of the university, BYUHSA provides and supports opportunities for students to lead and engage in their university experience. By effectively organizing, supporting and serving the Student Advisory Council and the Student Associations, BYUHSA invites all students to engage and participate in the campus.

All students have an open invitation to serve, lead and participate in Student Associations, to identify themselves with an interest, and be involved with fellow students and the campus life. There are opportunities to serve in leadership capacities, to attend events, make friends, give service and participate in a very personal way as a student.

Through the Student Advisory Council, all BYU–Hawaii students have an open invitation and opportunity to submit an issue/question, attend a forum, respond to a survey, give feedback/input, etc. These are opportunities for active and personal participation in their own experience as a student.
