BYUH Men's Basketball Team Reaches Highest-Ever Ranking

The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team climbed another spot in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll on January 25, moving up to number four (behind Findlay, Ohio; UU-C.W., New York; and Central Oklahoma). The move gives the Seasiders the highest ranking in school history in Division II play, surpassing last week’s number-five ranking. The Seasiders made the jump upwards despite dropping four points in the poll from last week’s record-setting 167.

The Seasiders, who have matched the best start in school history with a 13-1 mark, won twice last week and also won January 26 in a game that could not be considered for the poll. They also continue to lead the nation in field goal percentage at 52.7 percent in the latest statistical report. However, after last night’s win the Seasiders improved their season field goal percentage to 52.9 percent.

BYU-Hawaii will face Chaminade on Thursday night, January 29, in Laie in a Pacific West Conference matchup set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Cannon Activities Center. The game will also be shown live on OC16.
