"The Other Side of Heaven" Director Addresses Summit Conference

"Whatever Heavenly Father tells you to do, do it. He will help you. Do it with the standpoint of fidelity to your god, spouse, children and you will change the world," said Mitch Davis, keynote speaker of the Leadership Summit Great Ideas Exchange that was held on November 6.

Davis (pictured right), famed director and screenwriter of the movie The Other Side of Heaven, expressed to his audience that as future leaders, they had the capacity to change the world as President David O. McKay prophesied.

"The last thing the world needs is leaders who have sold their souls to have a voice," Davis said. Students, he further stated, need to remember that in order to avoid such fate, they need to know who they are and why they are here.

In teaching who we are, Davis recalled how he used to marvel at the beauty and wonders of God's creation, asking Deity, "Of all these creations, tell me, which is your grandest accomplishments? Is it the Grand Canyon? The Galaxy? Mt Everest?" The answer that came was the memory of a boy in the mud from his mission in Argentina, and of different individuals he has met— because all of us are children of a God who loves us equally.

He summed with a counsel to students about the importance of holding onto values, stating, "You are going to change the world. You have no choice. It is up to you. You have to because you know who you are and where you are going."
