Brigham Young University–Hawaii Faculty Member Elected to CEC Board of Directors

 

Barbara Hong, Associate Professor of Special Education and the Program Coordinator of Special Education at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, was elected to the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Board of Directors in a recent member-wide election. She began her term as the Member-at-Large Non-Designated on January 1, 2017.  

As a member of the Board of Directors, Hong will participate in the organization’s administrative, general legislative, and policy-making body. The Board of Directors establishes strategic direction for CEC, addresses issues of concern, and sets policy.

Hong received her bachelor’s degree in special education from Brigham Young University–Hawaii. She went on to Columbia University where she earned three masters in instructional practices, leadership and policy administration, and as a learning specialist. She also received her Ph.D. in special education cross categorical studies at Columbia University.

CEC is the professional association of educators dedicated to advancing the educational success of children with exceptionalities that accomplishes its mission through advocacy, standards, and professional development.
