BYU–Hawaii Accreditation Reaffirmed Through 2025

Brigham Young University–Hawaii announced today that the Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges has reaffirmed the accreditation of the university through 2025. WSCUC’s accreditation process evaluates institutions for their educational excellence and operational effectiveness. The commission’s decision was based on a thorough self-study report prepared by BYU–Hawaii, an offsite review of that report by a WSCUC evaluation team and a three-day campus visit by that same team this past March.

“We are extremely pleased with the outcome. It is the most positive result that we could have hoped for,” said John Bell, Vice President for Academics. “The accreditation team found that the institution addressed each of the required components and they commended us on several items.”

Among the work commended by the WSCUC Commission was BYU–Hawaii’s demonstrated commitment to its mission. A main focus of BYU–Hawaii is serving a diverse student population and the commission noted that the high number of countries represented in the student body was direct evidence of this priority. Students reported to the commission that this diversity is one of the things that attracted them to BYU–Hawaii and is also responsible for their ongoing retention.
