Apostle to Address Graduates at Fall Commencement

Laie, Hawaii – Elder D. Todd Christofferson, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will address Brigham Young University–Hawaii’s 223 graduates and their families at this Fall’s commencement ceremony held on Monday, November 2, 2015, at 9:30 AM (HT) in the Cannon Activities Center.

The university will award 48 associate’s degrees and 175 bachelor’s degrees. Graduates range from 19 to 55 years old, and come from 22 countries. The Fall 2015 commencement is the first since the university began a new academic calendar that started Fall semester in August. Because of the transition, the number of degrees awarded is higher than those who will participate in Monday’s graduation. With the new three-semester calendar, there will be three annual graduations going forward.

Other Weekend Events In addition to graduation, Elder and Sister Christofferson will speak at a multi-stake evening Devotional on Sunday, November 1, at 7:00 PM in the Cannon Activities Center. This Devotional is part of the joint celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of BYU–Hawaii and the 150th Anniversary of the LDS Church in Laie. Earlier in the afternoon, Elder Christofferson will rededicate the recently completed Hales 3 and 5 (on-campus residences) on Sunday, November 1, at 5 PM. That will take place in the courtyard between Hale 3 and Hale 5.
