New Director of Counseling Services and Special Needs

Leilani Auna has been appointed as the director of the department of Counseling Services and Special Needs at Brigham Young University–Hawaii.

“I am excited about my new responsibilities,” Auna expressed. “I am looking forward to building upon the services our department offers.”

“Leilani Auna has been a valued clinical counselor on our campus for many years,” said Vice President of Student Development and Services Dr. Debbie Hippolite Wright. “We are glad that she has accepted her new leadership role.”

Leilani is an alumna of BYU–Hawaii where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW). She then obtained her master’s degree (MSW) at the Accredited School of Social Work at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Hawaii with certifications in persogenics, TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children), and MEMOS (Parenting Certification).

She is married to Vanley K. Auna and has eight children.
